The group was formed in 2003 by a small group of like minded people who were already involved in researching the history of the Armagh area. We rightly thought that if we organised into a group that met regularly then we would attract more people to join and enjoy getting to know more about the past in our neighbourhood.
Our membership is around 20 most of whom will turn up for our monthly meetings. These monthly talks are a chance to get to know the other members and you’re always guaranteed an interesting and varied programme of speakers.
We meet in the Irish Local Studies library which is situated in the old city hospital building and Abbey street, Armagh. The talks take place monthly between September and June and are usually on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
